Data You Give Us Directly
Search Queries
A name or location entered in a search box is sent directly to the outside company that operates that tool. The provider processes the query and supplies its result. Racine County Criminal History does not keep or log those search terms on its own systems.
Messages and Contact Submissions
An email sent to us may be retained long enough to respond and maintain the related correspondence. It is not shared beyond the organization unless disclosure is required by law.
Data We Gather Automatically
When a page loads, standard server and analytics records may capture technical details about the visit:
- Your device type and operating system
- The site that sent you here, if any
- The IP address assigned to your device
- Timestamps for each page view
- The pages you visited and how long you stayed on each
- Which browser you are using and its version
Cookies and Analytics
Cookies are small files placed on a device to help measure how visitors move through the site, including popular pages and exit points. Analytics services combine that traffic information into reports. Browser settings can block cookies, although some functions may then behave differently.
What We Do With This Data
- Figuring out which pages people find useful and which need work
- Showing ads that may line up with your interests
- Keeping the site up, running, and loading quickly
- Tracking down and fixing technical issues
- Sending your search requests to the right partner service
No Criminal-Record Data on File
Racine County Criminal History does not own, compile, or sell a database of personal criminal records. It explains how to reach Racine County Sheriff Records, the Wisconsin Circuit Court, Wisconsin DOJ Crime Information Bureau, Wisconsin Department of Corrections, and Wisconsin Sex Offender Registry. It is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act. Visitor data is not assembled into a consumer report or a third-party criminal record.
Third-Party Search Partners
Outside companies provide the search-box services. Their privacy terms, retention periods, and disclosure practices govern information entered into those tools. Review the provider's policy before sending a query because this policy does not control the provider's processing.
Links to Other Websites
Links may lead to sheriff, court, Wisconsin agency, legal-service, and private search websites. Once a reader follows an outbound link, the destination's privacy policy applies. Check those terms before providing personal information.
Advertising providers may use their own systems to measure activity across websites and tailor ads. Their technology and policies govern that tracking.
Who Might See Your Data
Personal data is not sold. Limited information may be available to:
- Ad networks that place ads on our pages
- Law enforcement or government bodies when a valid legal order requires it
- Analytics services we use to track traffic and performance
- Search partners that handle queries you run on our site
How We Protect Your Data
Reasonable technical and organizational measures are used to protect collected information. No internet service can guarantee perfect security, so a breach cannot be ruled out despite those precautions.
Users Under 18
The service is intended for adults and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. Information identified as belonging to a minor will be removed when a valid request is received.
Your Data Rights
Rights may vary with the law that applies to the visitor. Wisconsin Public Records Law, Wis. Stat. §§ 19.31-19.39, governs access to records held by public authorities, while Wis. Stat. § 165.83 governs criminal-history reporting to the state repository. Those public-record laws do not turn this private site into a records custodian. Subject to applicable law, a visitor may:
- Request that we erase your data
- Opt out of certain kinds of data processing
- Ask for a copy of what we have on file about you
- Have us fix information that is wrong
